A donkey is not as majestic as a horse or as powerful as a Clydesdale. In ancient times, this humble creature symbolized humility and service. On this website, the donkey serves as a reminder of a simple being seeing what others might overlook.
"Balaam arose, he saddled his donkey, and went off with the princes of Moab. But now God’s anger flared up at him for going, and the angel of the LORD took up a position on the road as his adversary. As Balaam was riding along on his donkey, accompanied by two of his servants, the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with sword drawn. The donkey turned off the road and went into the field, and Balaam beat the donkey to bring her back on the road." - Numbers 22:21-23 These blog posts aim to help you see what you may not be seeing yourself. Balaam's donkey saw the angel blocking Balaam's path, but Balaam was blind to it. Frustrated, Balaam lashed out, striking the donkey and even threatening to kill it. Yet, "...the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey" (v. 28). My goal is not to annoy with my thoughts but to challenge you to open your eyes to what lies ahead. Like Balaam, we often wander off the path and need something to redirect us. Allow me to be your humble servant—your donkey. I am here to help you see what may go unseen. |
