Alright it’s time to bring that fire. On July 29th 2013 , the news was really all about what Pope Francis said in his, 80 minute interview. Let me be frank, I don’t trust the news. I’m not getting on this big-ole conspiracy theory, some people take it the umpth degree, but I just want to take it to a real degree. A lot of these media sources news stations, and journalists are just, now-a-days’, are just extremely, extremely irresponsible. They are the Harlem Globetrotters of the news. They take an issue, a story or interview and they spin it. they make it look so good the way they spin it that it’s almost mesmerizing. You can’t take your eye off the spinning ball The way they spin the news is twisted to get you to see only certain things; they don’t want you to see the whole picture Responsible journalism in my opinion (and I reiterate, my opinion, so not to be confused with fact) is giving me the unfiltered truth, because at this current state trust has been broken. Chris Patten, Chairman of the BBC Trust believes that: journalists should adopt a version of the Hippocratic to replace or supplement the Editors' Code. HE states an an interview with the PressGazette’s Dominic Ponsford: "It may be to think more widely about how trust works. Everyone inside and outside the media needs to be clear about why trust in the media matters, and what responsibilities that trust entails. In particular we need: first, maximum clarity about what is agreed to be ethically acceptable; and second, transparency about how ethics are applied, in a way that forms part of readers' everyday experience of the journalism they see.” [1] Just give me the truth, lay out the truth, stop trying to get ratings, get me hyped- up or scared. Stop trying to present this doomsday scenario, and just give me the news. What got me upset about the Pope Francis thing, is that it’s like these news stations, and these journalists, are trying to present something about the church that isn’t true. They are making it seem like Pope Francis is kinda putting the church through this extreme make over, its giving her majesty a face lift. No he isn’t not. We he stated is what the church been teaching, preaching, and suggesting, for a long time, but the media doesn’t cover that, they don’t cover that, they don’t’ cover that pope Benedict said this: "Homosexual persons, as human persons, have the same rights as all persons including the right of not being treated in a manner which offends their personal dignity"[2] And the church has always taught it: “The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition”[3] They [media] just want to hone in on the church and it’s on going transition with a new Pope and recent Gay Marriage laws. “This new pope is going to revolutionize the church” is the outcry of Catholics, falling away Catholics and non- Catholics alike, which is a true statement, however he’s going to revolutionize through love and in a way that we, as the devout people, and I stress devout, are now going to be stripped down to our bare essentials. We are going to be stripped down to our bare vulnerable simple catholic church. He’s going to revolutionize the way we think the way we minister, the way we approach the simplicity of her. He’s not giving her [the Catholic Church] a facelift if anything he’s giving her a wardrobe change. She’s going from an elegant designer like Vera Wang, Angel Sanchez, or Caroline Herrera wedding dress, to maybe something she just picked up from davit’s bridal or something she picked up from a second hand. It doesn’t take away the fact that she’s still beautiful she is still the simply elegant Catholic Church. She has the look of Jackie O. Kennedy rather than the blinged out lavish women we see on Desperate Housewife’s. So many people think what they see on the news is flawless, reporting. It’s unadulterated straight knowledge, straight fact, and honest. See there is a reason Harlem globetrotters aren’t playing in the NBA, because their style is straight fancy. It’s all style and spinning. There is a reason they aren’t in the NBA No disrespect to the Harlem Globetrotters because I love them as entertainer, but they are no LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Rondo, or Tim Duncan (notice Kolbe isn’t on my list, not a fan; I digress). The Globetrotters are not on the same level as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, or Magic Johnson. There is a reason why they aren’t in the NBA, their style of play is they manipulate the sport to entertain. I watch wrestling (yes, the fake male soap opera on Monday Nights), and I know that’s not Olympic wrestling. I know a guy in a mask on the top rope doing 45 spins landing on someone is not real, but , to me, it’s entertaining. This company, regardless of what you think of it, has responsibly labeled what they are, sports entertainment. These wrestlers are athelets, like the Harlem Globtrotters, they train, they get hurt, they bleed, but they don’t claim to be Olympic wrestlers (outside of Kurt Angle, however, I digress, yet again) Today’s news and journalist of the modern era, for the sake of ratings have blurred the lines of fact and fiction, news casting and entertainment. whether they do it for the thrill factor, shock factor, “ooo I’m so scared factor”, whatever it may be, they want you to tune in and buy in to the agenda they have created, or supported. And no one is off the hook CNN, FOX.. I know how it works, CNN equals lefty liberal democrats, FOX righty conservative republican. And MSNBC… I don’t know what’s up with ya’ll ya’ll just on are on a whole other level. I understand from an entertainment stand point, but it’s irresponsible, because you are putting out facts about stuff you know nothing about; you aren’t doing the research yourself. You are reading a few lines from a transcript and you come to this “Lets see what Pope Francis said…… ‘Who am I to judge homosexuality’… look at that, the Pope supports homosexual marriage!” That’s not what he said. The church has ALWAYS looked at the dignity of the person. ALL of us Homo or hetero, black or white, poor or rich, the church has always upheld the dignity of the human person. “The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God…”[4] Now the way, things are spinning now-a-days, people are either for or against, and sometimes the situations aren’t as black or white. No one ever we couldn’t hate the actions of man, the action. I can’t stand the actions of a heterosexual couple that has sex before marriage. It’s not that I can’t stand them, as people, or that I don’t love them, as God’s children. I love them, and because I love them I hate the sin, that may divide them. Now in this VERY relativistic world, that may have come as “hateful” or “judgmental”, but the opposite is true, however, that is how our minds have been trained to think. Stop, giving sin such power, but giving it human rights. I can hate sin, and it’s not a crime, but it has been criminalized in our society today, because SIN somehow has been given human faculties. My love for a sinful person still remains the same (and don’t get it twisted, I am human and I am far from taking myself out of the sinful person category). The media is starting up this relativist revolution getting faithful people in their own religion, this REM- Personal-Jesus mind set. They [media] are pushing for a scary philosophy on life, that is going to leave a lot of people in the dark. See, their hunt, their is against organized religion “I can’t stand organized religion” the world cry’s aloud in unisons, like a Bone-Thugs-In-Harmony song. Yet the true enemy of state is disorder, chaos, anarchy...and the new disordered religion is relativism. The reason this philosophy is so scary is because everyone within the “disorganized religion” of relativism is their own pope, master, king, truth maker, and historian. Taking of God, love and law what they want with nothing being absolute truth. Pope Francis is an educated man; Jesuit and Pope Francis is an extremely loving man; Franciscan, and what he said I hold as true, and that is what the church has been saying and continues to say. The only difference is now you are finally hearing it. The Catholic Church is not getting a makeover, facelift, or even being upgraded. The Catholic Church is getting a simple wardrobe change, that is all she’s getting, Because the essence of her simplicity is the most beautiful thing we will ever encounter. I’ll end this how I started it. I think journalism now a days, is just irresponsible. They need to clean up their act, but they are not going to because they want ratings through entertainment journalism. They want fans, they want to entertain, and spin the ball in our face and aspect Hall of Fame admiration. You aren’t following me and I know a baller, when I see you one and you journalist are no Hall of Famers. And that’s me bringing the fire.
